3 Weeks in Norway: Day 1

Well, after all those mountains and hiking, it was time for something else. So we left Austria to discover Norway for the next 3 weeks 🙂

Let me tell you something directly. Before you make a journey and book hotels, flights, pay for rental cars in advance, etc….make sure your passport is valid!

So our trip to Norway began with a heartattack and a stroke at the same time. I could not believe my eyes. Basically 14 hours before our departure I had no valid passport and I thought that this is already the end of it. But if there is will, there is hope. After a call to the embassy (which normally would have been closed already by the time I called) the case looked different. I got told that they could make an emergency passport for me IF I managed to get a new passport picture (not older than 1 month). Ok, so we ran to town, the shops were about to close, I was unshaved, unshowered and looked like….ok, too much information 😀

So here we were, the worst passport pictures of the century but with hope that after all we would manage to organize an emergency passport in super short time and that our long planned vacation would happen. And it happened! We are here!

We picked up the passport first thing in the morning and drove directly to Munich airport. Right on time! Everything went fantastic and we enjoyed our first day here in Stavanger to its fullest. Stavanger is a nice little city with lots of bars and restaurants.

Mainly fast food restaurants since the Norwegians love pizza, burger and all that stuff. We discovered many offer mexican food as well. We adapted quick and had fantastic burgers (with chipotle!) and onion rings for dinner.

We were so lucky because we had read that the weather was going to be rainy and cold and instead it was kinda sunny with 23°.

On the way back to the hotel we passed the town square where they installed interesting street lights, which change shape and colors from time to time.

Below some pics we took after our dinner. Now we are about to go to bed to be on time for Day 2 in Norway where we will discover a bit more of Stavanger and later in the day will already leave this city on direction to Preikestolen!

    1. Thank you so much for the kind words! So far it has been a great adventure. We are about to start our 14th day. Too bad it does not show your name, so we don’t know who to thank but we hope you keep enjoying the blog and the rest of our Norway trip. 🙂
